Keith takes a first glimpse at the source of where spiritual warfare starts. You might be surprised it has very little to do with spirits, the devil or the supernatural. In this solo episode Keith takes the time to preach to the choir, and speak a word to those who are already believers.
Enemies to combat:
World
James 4:1–4
1 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?
2 You lust and do not have; so, you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so, you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
To dig in to the source of where spiritual warfare comes from, Keith explores his treasury of Scripture knowledge to fully develop this idea. Here is a list of Scriptures that you may also want to read for yourself.
James 3:14-18
What about temptations, desires of the heart, passions of the flesh, pride and more?
James 1:14; Genesis 4:5-8; Jeremiah 17:9; Matthew 15:19; Mark 7:21-23; John 8:44; Romans 8:7; 1 Timothy 6:4-10; Titus 3:3; 1 Peter 1:14; 1 Peter 2:11; 1 Peter 4:2,3; 2 Peter 2:18; 2 Peter 3:3; 1 John 2:15-17; Jude 1:16-18
But if this is about spiritual warfare, why all the discussion about worldly desire and warfare in our members? What’s a member anyway?
Romans 7:5,23; Galatians 5:17; Colossians 3:5
For the believer life here on earth as a nonstop challenge to struggle against our personal desires. It can be so easy to pamper ourselves and try to live comfortably. Instead, we probably ought to seek that God change our desires to match what he desires.
Since there is no time left to cover the remaining verses in this short passage, Keith gives them a quick review and a parting word of encouragement.
