Session 7 | Jeremiah 29:4-14
the details of God’s plan for His people.
10 For this is what the LORD says:
“When seventy years for Babylon are complete, I will attend to you and will confirm my promise concerning you to restore you to this place.”11 “For I know the plans I have for you”—
this is the LORD’s declaration—
“plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”12 “You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
13 You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.
14 I will be found by you”—this is the LORD’s declaration—
“and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and places where I banished you”—
this is the LORD’s declaration. “I will restore you to the place from which I deported you.”

use the information in the Daily Exploration (pp. 66-67)
to find evidence of God’s hope for His people.
Acknowledge that human nature tempts us to “fix” things before we turn to God.
But the Bible is clear that we can rely on Him in every situation.
Direct attention to Jeremiah 29:11
to affirm that we can always trust God’s plans for our lives.
Call attention to Pack Item 5 (Key Verse: Jeremiah 29:11)
and note that this is the memory verse for this session.
Encourage the group to commit it to memory this week.
God’s plans are always true and trustworthy.
We can depend on Him.
Invite volunteers to share things they learned
(or were reminded of) about trusting God during today’s study.
Direct the group to the paragraph under Apply the Text on page 63:
Jeremiah exhorted the exiles to make the land of their exile
better for having been there and to pray for their unbelieving neighbors.
As a group, discuss what principles
from these commands apply to believers today,
and ways you will put them into practice.
Highlight that God wasn’t just issuing these commands
to make the lives of the Babylonians better.
Ultimately, He was giving the Jewish exiles
the formula for peace and prosperity for themselves and their families as well.
As a group, create a plan with specific action steps
that will challenge adults to put these principles into practice each day.
Encourage the group to make time this coming week
to read and respond to the Apply the Text question on page 67:
Identify a situation that is currently requiring you
to put your hope in God. Knowing that God can bring
something good out of bad situations,
how should you respond to this situation?
Close in prayer,
thanking God for His trustworthiness.
Ask Him to help each adult to reflect His kindness,
whatever our personal circumstances might be.
Reinforce the study by evaluating the various ways you see evidence of God’s faithfulness at work in your life. Thank God for His faithfulness to His people. Share your thoughts with the group and encourage them to do the same.
