Answering a short series of hot button topics, we present another two of them today. Though some in our culture find these a serious or difficult matter, scripture holds some easy solutions.
Why are you Christians against women’s right to choose? Body autonomy? Reproductive health?
Explanation/Support:
Women’s sexual and reproductive health is related to multiple human rights, including the right to life, the right to be free from torture, the righ
why are you Christians against immigration? No person is illegal. All have value.
Explanation/Support:
How we should act toward these travelers is laid out in passages such as Leviticus 19:34, Zechariah 7:9 and Jeremiah 22:3: It is our religious duty to treat immigrants with kindness. In his Letter to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul tells us that we should ignore national boundaries: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female,” he writes, “for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Notice that in the mentioned verses, as well as others you may find, kindness is called for but so is the sovereignty of following God’s laws. Most people are all four legal immigrations.
I noticed the question avoids the use of the term illegal immigration, but it is a legitimate and proper term to use. While people are made in the image of God, and have worth and value based on that alone, their immigration status can be illegal.
I would argue that many people are illegal. For example, citizenship in this or any country is a privilege, not a right.
The same could be said about driving an automobile, owning a firearm, voting and many other privileges.
