Nathan pops in with a brief word about our previous episode. He refers to a passage in Luke 22:36, and Keith interjects some context. Jesus’ command was for self-defense, and not for aggressive or offensive purposes.
We also touch base on opinions on whether Christians should carry military-style rifles. Though Nathan doesn’t have much to say on this, Keith shares some background on weapons and why the rounds used in AR 15s are more dangerous than a typical .22 caliber rifle
When it comes to laws regulating firearms in our country, the problem is that the laws in place are not fully enforced. Those who are set on breaking the law will do so regardless of the law or their enforcement.
Bottom line: Jesus did indeed authorize carrying a sword, a weapon for self-defense. Throughout the New Testament history, there is no evidence that any Christians carried or use the sword, even in self-defense.
