ENGAGE

Introduce:

• what qualities might have drawn people to follow a good leader, or a bad leader.
• Why are adults willing to surrender a measure of independence to follow these leaders?
• What would they gain?

Overview:

Enlist a volunteer to read the introductory paragraph on page 53.

Point out that to follow someone, you must be willing to be led.

Note that individuals give up a certain amount of self-direction
in hopes of gaining something in return, usually in the form of greater prosperity.

Ask:

• In which role would you prefer to serve—leader or follower?
• What fears arise when someone asks you to follow them? (p. 53)

Transition:

We all tend to follow someone for direction or guidance.

and to allow Him to become the ultimate Leader in our lives.
