FROM REJECTION TO COMPASSION (LAM. 3:31-33)

Jeremiah’s confidence in God’s love.

31 For the LORD will not reject us forever.
32 Even if he causes suffering, he will show compassion according to the abundance of his faithful love.

33 For he does not enjoy bringing affliction or suffering on mankind.

Today’s Scripture shows us that even when in hardships and despair,
we can find evidence of God’s love at work around us.

CHALLENGE

APPLY:

Call attention to the Apply the Text section on page 111:
Reflect as a group on how Jeremiah identified with his people.
How was his prayer not only for himself but also for all of them?
Identify tangible ways believers may encourage other believers who are experiencing hardships.
Lead the group to name ways they can encourage other believers.
Encourage them to take action on one of these ideas this week.

PRAY:

Close in prayer,
thanking God for the peace He gives us.
Praise Him for the hope we find in Him during times of despair.

AFTER THE SESSION

Reinforce the session by praying daily for the group as this study of Jeremiah/Lamentations wraps up. Pray that they would continue seeking God through His Word daily.
