Session 9 | Jeremiah 35:5-19
Write Role Models on the board.
invite volunteers to name a person who has served as a positive role model to them.
(Examples: parent, teacher, coach, grandparent, boss, and so forth)
List the first names of these role models on the board.
Note that sometimes the best lessons in life are learned by watching others who do something the right way through their words and actions.
In today’s study,
we will see how God pointed to a group of people—the Rechabites—as role models of faithful living.

Share that the events in today’s session probably took place not long before the fall of Jerusalem in 586 BC, during the waning days of King Zedekiah’s reign.
The nation of Judah was entering its final months as an independent kingdom.
As Jeremiah warned Zedekiah, it would not be long before God sent Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonians to destroy the city and exile more of the people.
Note that during this terrible time the Israelites were enslaving their own people and the king allowed this to happen.
