Session 5 | Jeremiah 18:1-12
God’s words of warning.
11 “So now, say to the men of Judah and to the residents of Jerusalem,
‘This is what the LORD says: Look, I am about to bring harm to you and make plans against you.
Turn now, each from your evil , and correct your ways and your deeds.’”12 “But they will say,
‘It’s hopeless. We will continue to follow our plans, and each of us will continue to act according to the stubbornness of his
evil heart.’”
Call attention to
“hopeless” and “stubbornness” in verse 12.
Direct the group’s attention to the question under Apply the Text on page 47. Instruct them to work in teams of two or three to respond: How might God use your group to help shape you for His purposes? Then call for volunteers to share their responses with the whole group.
Encourage the group to take time this week to reflect on these questions: Recall an occasion when you refused to do what you knew God wanted you to do. What were the consequences? What actions will you take this week to conform more completely to God’s purposes? (p. 51)
Encourage the group to pray silently, 3 Commentary Up 1 level
