Session 4 | Jeremiah 12:1-13

CAPABLE? (JER. 12:5-6)

God showed Jeremiah that even those closest to him would fail him.

5 If you have raced with runners and they have worn you out,
how can you compete with horses?
If you stumble in a peaceful land, what will you do in the thickets of the Jordan?

6 Even your brothers—your own father’s family—
even they were treacherous to you;
even they have cried out loudly after you.
Do not have confidence in them, though they speak well of you.

ASK:

SHARE:

Jeremiah understood his own weaknesses. God let him know
that even those Jeremiah normally trusted would fail to support him
and his ministry.

Note that God was not trying to add to Jeremiah’s concerns,
but He was encouraging His prophet to continue trusting Him
more than anyone else.

TRANSITION:

Like Jeremiah, we need to lean into God’s strength.
He alone is completely righteous and completely trustworthy.
