(But they were not gods!) Yet my people have exchanged their Glory for useless idols.12 Be appalled at this, heavens;
be shocked and utterly desolated! This is the LORD’s declaration.

verse 13 and the two sins named there:
abandoning God and embracing worthless idols.
Judgment always comes when people abandon God

Guide the group to discuss the Apply the Text question on page 23:
Why should believers be concerned about their influence on fellow believers
when it comes to devotion to God?
As a group,
discuss how being part of a group helps protect members
from drifting away from God.
Talk about ways the group can hold one another accountable in love.
Encourage the group to examine their own lives for evidence they are chasing
after empty idols more than they are seeking God.
Challenge the group to determine actions they can take to guard
against drifting away from devotion to God.
Close in prayer,
thanking God for His faithfulness toward us.
Pray that we will continue to seek Him with all our hearts.
Reinforce the session by contacting the group by email or text and encouraging them to look for deeper ways to seek God in every area of their lives.
