Session 3 John 2:11-23

GLORY SHOWN (JOHN 2:11-12)

the purpose

11 Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee.
He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.

12 After this, he went down to Capernaum,
together with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples,
and they stayed there only a few days.

Jesus’s miracle.

HIGHLIGHT:

Changing water to wine John 2:1-11
Points to Jesus as the Source of all the blessings of God’s future (see Isa. 25:6-8; Jer. 31:11-12; Amos 9:13-14)

!~Isaiah 25:6-8 !~6 The LORD of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain; !`A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow, And refined, aged wine. !`7 And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples, !`Even the veil which is stretched over all nations. !`8 He will swallow up death for all time, !`And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces, !`And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; !`For the LORD has spoken. !~Jeremiah 31:11-12 !`11 For the LORD has ransomed Jacob !`And redeemed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he. !`12 "They will come and shout for joy on the height of Zion, !`And they will be radiant over the bounty of the LORD -- !`Over the grain and the new wine and the oil, And over the young of the flock and the herd; !`And their life will be like a watered garden, And they will never languish again. !~Amos 9:13-14 NASB !~13 "Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, !`"When the plowman will overtake the reaper !`And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; !`When the mountains will drip sweet wine !`And all the hills will be dissolved. !`14 "Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, !`And they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; !`They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, !`And make gardens and eat their fruit.
