Session 10 Hosea 14:1-9
the source of true wisdom.
8 Ephraim, why should I have anything more to do with idols?
It is I who answer and watch over him.
I am like a flourishing pine tree; your fruit comes from me.
9 Let whoever is wise understand these things,
and whoever is insightful recognize them.
For the ways of the LORD are right,
and the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.
review the advantages of turning to God as identified in verses 8-9.
Challenge the group to rank the advantages they discovered,
listing first the one they believe to be most motivating.
The Israelites had turned away from God
and forgotten that no other Savior exists.
Guide the group to discuss the question set under Apply the Text on page 87:
Share with the group how you came to understand your need for repentance
and what you found when you turned to Jesus.
How does your experience compare with what Hosea proclaimed about God’s forgiveness?
How can the group celebrate the joy of repentance?
How can the group help others discover the blessings of repentance?
Encourage the group to take time this coming week
to reflect and act on the question set under Apply the Text (p. 91):
Who do you know that needs to hear about God’s promise to forgive sin?
Create a plan for sharing with that person, including regular prayer for that person.
Ask God to help you share insights from today’s lesson with at least one person this week.
Close in prayer,
asking the Lord to examine our hearts
and lead us to confess our sins before Him.
Ask that He would guide us as we face difficult situations
and always seek to honor Him as our Savior and Lord.
Reinforce the study by following up with persons in the group who may be far from God or who are struggling with a difficult situation. Encourage the group to look for an opportunity to share their faith with at least one person during the week.
