Session 9 Hosea 10:5-15

THE SIN HARVESTED

ENGAGE

INTRODUCE:

record reasons a person might give for breaking a relationship.
Highlight responses that point to being ignored.

DISCUSS:

Point out that Israel’s rejection of God did not happen overnight,
but each step away from God led them closer to the “breakup.”

TRANSITION:

In today’s study, we discover that Israel slowly stepped away from God.
Their rejection of Him was gradual. But the consequences would be devastating.

REVIEW:

Using Understand the Context (p. 77),
review the previous sessions in Hosea.

Remind the group of Hosea’s marriage to Gomer, her unfaithfulness, and how he bought her back.

Note that Hosea related how God despises false repentance and disloyalty.
Israel’s leaders had led the people astray.

TRANSITION:

Repeatedly Hosea shared with Israel that judgment was coming.
In today’s session Israel’s sin is further exposed
and God’s coming judgment is sure.
