Session 8 Hosea 6:1–7:2
create a description of the word Loyal
using words or phrases that begin with each letter.
We expect our friends to keep their word and be loyal in all circumstances,
and realize that our friends expect the same from us.
In our study of Hosea, we find the Israelites being unfaithful in both word and action.
Hosea 4 presents God’s case against Israel. The charges include
cursing, lying, stealing, adultery, and consulting idols.
These serious charges paint a picture of empty religion and unrepentant hearts.
The Israelites’ disloyalty to God and to each other was evident in their actions.
Distribute copies of Pack Item 13 (Handout: Unfaithfulness and Restoration in Hosea)
to the group and allow them time to briefly review the information.
Highlight that Hosea 5 speaks directly to the priests and their failure to lead the people in the right way.
Emphasize that the verses in today’s study are surrounded by verses depicting a dark picture of Israel’s unfaithfulness,
but Hosea 6:1–7:2 provides a glimmer of hope for Israel.
Hosea called on the people to turn to God, knowing He is the only source of healing.
The people were challenged to know God and experience His presence.
