GOD CALMS (JONAH 1:15-17)

the result of Jonah’s disobedience.

15 Then they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped its raging.
16 The men were seized by great fear of the Lord, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows.

17 The LORD appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah,
and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

EXAMINE:

propose attitudes displayed by the sailors and Jonah.

The sailors did all they could to get back to the shoreline
they avoided responsibility for Jonah’s death by throwing him into the sea
they realized it was a lost cause.
However, they did not want the Lord to punish them for taking the life of one of His servants.

ASK:

TRANSITION:

Jonah prayed to God while inside the fish.
He cried out, expecting God to hear him.
Jonah expressed his dire circumstances, realizing that his only hope was to turn to God.
