Review:

review the kings covered in the study so far and
note the progression through 1 Kings. Use the information in Understand the Context (p. 45)
and Pack Item 9 (Kings of the Divided Kingdom)
to briefly summarize the reigns of the kings, bringing to today’s study of Asa.

Highlight:

Note that Asa’s father Abijam is described this way:

“Abijam walked in all the sins his father before him had committed,
and he was not wholeheartedly devoted to the Lord his God
as his ancestor David had been”

(1 Kings 15:3).

Transition:

Asa did not have a strong role model to follow.
He faced a decision of whether to choose spiritual rebellion
like his father or to chart a new course
toward spiritual renewal.
